Sahyadri Gymnasium & Research Lab Inaugurated in Chiplun
Chiplun, May 6: The Sahyadri Gymnasium and a state-of-the-art Research Lab at Govindrao Nikam College of Pharmacy, established by Sahyadri Education Institute, were inaugurated by Dr. Satish Wagh, Chairman of Supriya Life Sciences, in an enthusiastic ceremony.
The event was attended by Institute President and MLA Shri Shekharji Nikam, Vice Presidents Shri Prashant Sheth Nikam and Yugandhatai Rajeshirke, Working President Shri Aniruddha Nikam, Directors Shri Gulab Surve and Shri Harishchandra Surve, along with students, teachers, parents, and local residents.
The modern gymnasium offers facilities for badminton, table tennis, chess, carrom, and fitness training under one roof, aimed at the all-round physical and mental development of students.
The newly built Research Lab at the Pharmacy College is equipped with advanced instruments to encourage students’ research skills and create new opportunities in pharmaceutical and science fields.
Dr. Satish Wagh assured continued support from Supriya Life Sciences for research initiatives, while MLA Shri Shekharji Nikam reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to providing quality education to Konkan students, calling this a significant milestone.
The dignitaries inspected both facilities after the ceremony. This initiative is widely seen as a major boost to education and sports development in the Konkan region.
Govindrao Nikam College of Pharmacy, Sawarde, in collaboration with Shri B. V. Patel Education Trust, Ahmedabad, successfully conducted a two-day hands-on workshop on
“AI & Machine Learning in Pharmaceutical Research” on 28th and 29th April 2026.
The hands on sessions by expert resource person Dr . Swayamprakash Patel provided practical insights into predictive modeling, drug-excipient compatibility analysis, solubility prediction, and AI-driven drug discovery.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation of M. Pharm. students, research scholars and faculty from various pharmacy colleges of Maharashtra, received excellent feedback for its relevance to the pharmaceutical research & upcoming Pharmacy Council of India AI-integrated curriculum.
*Three projects of Govindrao Nikam College of Pharmacy, Sawarde have been selected as “Best Emerging Startup” at the Kokan Startup Challenge 2026.* The Kokan Startup Challenge 2026 was organized by the Navprabodhan Incubation Centre (NRIF) and CIREE – StartUp and Incubation Services. This competition was designed to identify and uplift prototype ready startups across Maharashtra by providing them with critical incubation support, mentorship, market access, and guidance on government funding. In this challenge, 5 startups were honoured with the title of “Best Emerging Startup” and the opportunity for further incubation. Three projects of Govindrao Nikam College of Pharmacy, Sawarde namely “Dual Season Smart Hat” offering controlled temperature presented by Dr. Lalita Nemade, Ms. Pranali Dalvi. “Azolatrinity” focused on use of fungus for poultry farm and as a Moskito-repellant guided by Mrs Apeksha Rahate-Salvi. “Phytoplast” focused on producing sustainable bioplastic using agricultural waste guided by Ms. Sukanya Patil and Mr. Aaditya Gurav have been selected for further incubation and guidance.We congratulate our students and the faculty members for this achievement…!!!

फ्लॉवरच्या टाकाऊ भागापासून बनवले ‘इको-फ्रेंडली’ पॉलिमर; अंतिम फेरीसाठी निवड

मुंबई विद्यापीठातर्फे आयोजित करण्यात आलेल्या २० व्या ‘आविष्कार’ आंतर-महाविद्यालयीन संशोधन स्पर्धेत (विभागीय फेरी) सावर्डे येथील गोविंदराव निकम कॉलेज ऑफ फार्मसीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांनी आपल्या संशोधन कौशल्याची चुणूक दाखवत यश संपादन केले आहे. दिनांक २० डिसेंबर २०२५ रोजी पार पडलेल्या या स्पर्धेत महाविद्यालयाच्या अभिनव प्रकल्पाची अंतिम फेरीत (पोडियम राऊंड) निवड झाली आहे.
महाविद्यालयाच्या कु. जुई पाटील आणि कु. भूमी कांबळे या विद्यार्थिनींनी प्रा. सुकन्या पाटील यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली “फ्लॉवरच्या टाकाऊ भागापासून सेल्युलोज: सिंथेटिक पॉलिमरला एक हरित पर्याय” (Cauliflower Waste Derived Cellulose: A greener Alternative to synthetic Polymers) हा संशोधन प्रकल्प सादर केला होता. या प्रकल्पाने विभागीय फेरी आणि अंतिम (पोस्टर) फेरी यशस्वीरित्या पार करत आता अंतिम (पोडियम) फेरीसाठी पात्रता मिळवली आहे.
प्रकल्पाचे वैशिष्ट्य:
हा प्रकल्प पूर्णपणे ‘झिरो वेस्ट स्ट्रॅटेजी’वर (Zero Waste Strategy) आधारित आहे. यात फ्लॉवरच्या (कॉलिफ्लॉवर) शेतातील वाया जाणाऱ्या आणि प्रदूषण वाढवणाऱ्या अवशेषांचा वापर करून उपयुक्त पॉलिमर तयार करण्यात आले आहे. विशेष म्हणजे या प्रक्रियेत रसायनांचा वापर अत्यंत कमी असल्याने हा प्रकल्प किफायतशीर आहे. यामुळे भविष्यात शेतकऱ्यांना यातून उत्पन्नाचे नवीन साधन मिळून ते उद्योजक बनू शकतात, असा विश्वास संशोधक विद्यार्थ्यांनी व्यक्त केला.
या यशाबद्दल आणि ह्या उपक्रमात सहभागी होणाऱ्या इतर सर्व विद्यार्थ्यांचे महाविद्यालयाचे प्राचार्य डॉ. अनिल बत्तासे, उप-प्राचार्य श्री. प्रवीण वाघचौरे आणि सर्व शिक्षकवृंद यांनी विजेत्या विद्यार्थिनींचे अभिनंदन केले आहे.

Ms. Sanika Gangan, a postgraduate student at Govindrao Nikam College of Pharmacy, Sawarde, has been selected for the prestigious WEnyan Research Scholarship, securing a grant of ₹90,000 for her research in the Postgraduate Category. This achievement was accomplished under the expert guidance of her mentor, Ms. Sukanya Patil.
The WEnyan Research Scholarship is a distinguished initiative aimed at empowering and supporting women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). A collaborative effort between BASF Chemicals India Private Limited and the Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC), an initiative facilitated by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, the program provides crucial financial assistance and mentorship. It specifically supports women from marginalized and low-income communities in Maharashtra, encouraging them to pursue careers in research and enterprises.

The formal welcoming of the freshers with their respective parents/guardians by Principal Dr. Battase sir. With the help of a PowerPoint presentation, the gathering was introduced to the various departments of the institution, their respective HODs, faculty members and general orientation about the college was. Competitive exam cell of Govindrao Nikam college of Pharmacy ,Sawarde has organized guest lecture for B. pharm and D. pharm students on the topic “ Yuva Prerana Abhiyan” on 9th December 2022 at 11:00 am. For this session Prof. Bhushan Deshmukh , Lokayan IAS Academy Pune was invited as a resource person who addressed students about the qualification criteria for MPSC, UPSC and other competitive exam and strategy to qualify competitive exams including MPSC and UPSC.
